Workshop: The Healing Power of Story
(for medical personnel and volunteers)

Children who are critically, chronically or terminally ill can find surprising comfort and normalcy in hearing and telling stories. Storytelling has been shown to have significant therapeutic value for young people.

These workshops (led by Michale Gabriel, founder of the groundbreaking Storytelling Residency program at Seattle Children’s Hospital) center on audience participation stories that invite conversation and dialogue with young patients. Children are encouraged to retell the stories they hear and to make up their own.
